Who's Afraid Of Naomi Wolf? Ft. William Kedjanyi
Monday Mar 08, 2021
Monday Mar 08, 2021
In this week's episode, we're joined by friend of all the pods Will Kedjanyi (@KeejayOV3), a political betting analyst with a deep understanding of Poster's Disease and all who have been infected.
We talk about Naomi Wolf's amazing tweet about how the COVID-19 vaccine has the power to cause time travel, and why Hussein wants to start a podcast with her. Later, we talk about Rishi Sunak giving up all politics and deciding to become an influencer, with a media team dedicated to obscuring his true height from the public. Finally - what's going on with GB News and why are they hiring so many Posters to lead anchor roles?

[PREVIEW] Return To Oz Ft. Jathan Sadowski
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
On this week's bonus , we speak to friend of the show Jathan Sadowski, co-host of the excellent podcast 'This Machine Kills', about Facebook's changing position as a platform, and how, in its attempts to cancel Australia simply for being English, it ended up gaining a more powerful position as an arbiter of information distribution, and probably made Rupert Murdoch even richer in the process.
We also talk about Bitcoin as "weaponised toxic masculinity", and how this suggests that, in absence of knowing what Bitcoin actually is, or what its supposed to do, we're once again resorting to projecting anxiety laden discourse onto it.

What We Talk About When We Talk About Vibing
Monday Mar 01, 2021
Monday Mar 01, 2021
On this weeks show, we tackle one, very important question: do we actually need to read anymore? Can you simply learn Marxist theory, Burkean philosophy or Dostoyevsky simply by understanding its vibe? It might sound like a straightforward question, but think a little deeper and it will be clear that nobody online has the attention span to read books, let alone think about them critically - leading to endless cycles of weird discourse about whether ordering an extra naan with your Deliveroo order is a form of anti-worker oppression.
We also talk about why the best way to sustain a long and loving friendship is by making sure you secretly record and document their worst behaviours and traits, that can be used against them at any point. We might be anti-nuclear weapons, but sometimes, toxic behaviour and cancel culture need to be encouraged for the good of society.

Gigabonnie & Sigmaclyde ft. Miles Klee
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
We have been told that apparently, there are many different kinds of "guy". At the top of the Guyrarchy sits a mythical being known as the "Gigachad". Nobody knows if he's real or not, but it seems like a lot of guys online really want to be him, or at the very least, would like to worship him.
--------
This week, we speak to Miles Klee, writer at MEL magazine and documenter of guys, to talk us through what the Gigachad actually is, why so many guys are referring to themselves as 'sigma', and why, apparently, leaning in toward your girlfriend when taking a picture makes you a cuck.

[PREVIEW] 12 Angry Posters ft. Nate Bethea
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Nate (@inthesedeserts) from Trashfuture, Hell of a Way and other cool pods, joins us to talk about why British people are making their kids dress as Captain Tom, and what this says about the UK's weird relationship with our boys (but only the ones who fought in WW2). We then talk about his ongoing war with British QCs, the elite lawyers who wear wigs and seem to spend all their time getting mad online. Why is it that some of the country's top barristers insist that Nate is a 20-year-old Christian used car salesman from Nebraska?

Best Wishes, Jackie Weaver
Monday Feb 15, 2021
Monday Feb 15, 2021
We're joined in this episode by producer Drew (@Mydrewd) to talk about the Handforth Parish Council video that went viral, and whether or not is shows that the funny-to-cringe-to-merchandise pipeline has once again, shortened. Is the Handforth Parish Council video 2021's version of "Tiger King" - ie. a digital phenomena we are desperately trying to find meaning in, while simultaneously extracting content from?
--------
Later, we talk about the Macfish guy, and why the future of Conservatism online will either be politicians going all in on the most insane elements of QAnon, or spending the next few years continuing to get mad at service workers and refusing to accept that certain McDonald's meals have never existed.

Stonkastic Terrorism ft. Alexandra Scaggs
Tuesday Feb 09, 2021
Tuesday Feb 09, 2021
A week is a very, very, very long time online, and in the time it's taken to record and produce this episode, Gamestop stocks have skyrocketed, tanked, and flatlined. A bunch of daytraders are pissed, Dave Portnoy is once again 100 grand in debt and none of us actually know what happened.
--------
So, we asked our friend Alexandra Scaggs from Barron's to explain whether going long on Gamestop was actually as revolutionary as Reddit posters on Wall Street Bets keep saying it was. Does the intervention of finance apps like Robinhood signal a future where platforms will be less hasty to intervene? And more importantly, does Mimetic phenomena like the $GME surge also show how we've actually given up on politics being able to change anything, so that the only way we can "challenge power" is to exploit a loophole every so often that means rich people will not be as rich as they could have been, had it not been for those meddling posters?

Now Is The Winter Of Dis-Content ft. Clive Martin
Monday Feb 01, 2021
Monday Feb 01, 2021
What is "Content", exactly? That's the central question for this episode, as we try to figure out why the Youtube algorithm keeps recommending 2hr + videos where a bunch of guys talk about why it's okay to be a bloke and have mental health , but also why social justice warriors keep ruining their lives, around the same Amazon podcasting kit.
--------
In this episode, we're joined by our friend, writer and reluctant podcaster Clive Martin. You might know him for his writing, but Clive also has a podcast called Hypnic Jerk. In this episode, he talks about how the algorithm has exposed the depths of our inner psyche, and in so doing, has successfully commercialised our anxieties into the same, monetised form of ambient sound - where content exists not to be consumed, but to simply exist in the background and make us not feel so alone.
--------
We also talk about more cringe Biden posting, and in particular, a now deleted thread on which Avengers would defend the Capitol from Trump supporters - including a remarkably murderous Hulk, and a Black Panther if he was created by Lin Manuel Miranda.

Fully Automated Luxury Nickelback (ft. Ryan Broderick / @Broderick)
Monday Jan 25, 2021
Monday Jan 25, 2021
Since Joe Biden is now president and Brunch is no longer illegal, Phoebe is away this week having poached eggs, avocados and sourdough toast with frosty mimosas in honour of Queen Kamala. Meanwhile, in a desolate corner of south London, Hussein sits down with friend of the show Ryan Broderick, who writes the Garbage Day newsletter and hosts The Content Mines podcast, to dissect what #content might become now that Trump is no longer on the platform. Will we return to the 2014 era of Avengers memes, Cat gifs and Girlboss discourse? Or, will online content continue to decay as platforms consolidate and commodify it further? You can probably guess the view of the pod, but Ryan reminds us that there is some light at the end of the tunnel/Austrian basement.
We also talk about Macklemore's oddly self-aware freestyle, and why Sense8 actually makes The Matrix, and by extension, the concept of technology it presents, make more sense.

Wanna Know How I Got These Beans?
Monday Jan 18, 2021
Monday Jan 18, 2021
After a long Christmas and New Years seeing through the last chaotic posts of 2020, we have entered a new year of posting- and it hasn't disappointed. In this episode, we talk about what the "Beans Dad" discourse hitting the mainstream news tells us about the future of 'viral content' and the end of niche, subcultural posting formats. And then we talk about some special posts of the first week of January, including Azalea Banks digging up her dead cat and making it into soup, and the Scottish radio DJ who thinks that string, and by extension, curves, are too sexy and should be banned (I agree!). All of which is to say, 2021 is already shaping up to be an extraordinary year for posting.
