Ok, technically this isn't quite a 'movie', but on this week's bonus, Hussein and Devon discuss a short Youtube documentary about the fall of Boogie2988, one of the first Youtubers to make a real, full-time income on the platform by playing video games and doing pranks and skits.
We talk about the dire state of Boogie's finances – caused by a combination of the horrible US health system, and his own penchant for Magic: The Gathering cards – and how a life spent on Youtube has meant that he is no longer willing to relate to anyone in the real world.
We discuss how Boogie's trajectory has mirrored that of other Youtubers, who find themselves struggling to revive their careers in the era of short-form video, but also has remained stagnant, as his other contemporaries successfully pivoted to branding and merchandising. Oh, and we obviously talk about how Boogie's career decline is pretty much the result of him insisting that he is allowed to say The Word.

This week, we revisit Phoebe's framework for understanding liars, their motivations, and what happens when they get caught in the act.
We then apply this to George Santos, the former disgraced congressman who was voted out by both political parties after being accused of multiple forms of financial fraud, some of which involves a weird vendetta against dogs. We then look into his post-congress career on Cameo, a platform where some celebrities go to revive their careers, and others go to try reinvent it completely.

Ryan comes back on the podcast this week to explain Jimmy Donaldson's – aka "Mr Beast"- new antic, which seems to involve ignoring local government protocol in East Africa to build wells and electricity pylons. Though presented as an altruistic act, Ryan explains how these stunts feed into the expansive "Mr Beast" brand, at a time when it looks like Donaldson is running out of ideas. Ryan also explains Donaldson's failed attempts to be accepted by mainstream culture and how, despite his massive following, it seems unlikely he'll ever make a break into mainstream TV.
